Matt Farley, Interim Executive Director
Matt Farley joined RICC as Interim Executive Director in January 2016. While maintaining a full-time role as Executive Director of Connecticut Campus Compact, Matt provides part-time support to RICC. His primary responsibilities include guiding the overall direction of the organization, supporting member engagement, and supervising staff. Matt brings to RICC over 15 years experience in leading campus-community partnership initiatives through academic affairs, student affairs, and campus ministries at four institutions including Harvard University and Fort Lewis College. An active leader in both regional and national projects with Campus Compact, Matt serves as a Compact representative on the national Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Working Group led by the Association of American Colleges & Universities. Matt maintains an active interest in higher education’s role in preparing and educating citizens. When outside the office, Matt enjoys golf and coaching youth sports. Matt holds a B.S. in Business Administration-Finance from Stonehill College and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Connecticut.
Mary Alice O’Connor, Associate Director
Mary Alice O’Connor joined the staff at RICC in August of 2013, after serving as the Development and Communications Associate at the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD). In her current role as Associate Director, Mary Alice oversees the AmeriCorps VISTA program, and works closely with program directors and site supervisors in supporting AmeriCorps members at PK-16 schools and non-profit organizations throughout the state. Mary Alice received her Bachelors of Arts in Public and Community Service Studies in 2008 from Providence College. After graduation, she moved to Iowa, where she served as an AmeriCorps NCCC Team Leader, an AmeriCorps VISTA member, and later, as a Wellness Counselor to adults with severe mental health conditions. Her professional interests include fundraising and event planning for non-profits, engaging college students in service and leadership roles, and encouraging cross-campus and community partnerships. In her free time, Mary Alice enjoys driving cross-country, biking, and exploring the great outdoors.
Sara Melucci joined the RICC staff in August 2016. As the VISTA Project Specialist, she supports the administrative and programmatic components of the AmeriCorps VISTA grant. Sara is a lifelong Rhode Islander and received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Providence College in 2014. During her undergraduate years, she developed interests in community development, research, and experiential learning, and spent time working in a variety of clinical and macro settings. After graduating, she served two terms as a VISTA with the Feinstein Institute for Public Service at Providence College, where she assisted in the Institute in its efforts to build and maintain mutually beneficial campus-community partnerships. Sara is currently in graduate school for her MSW at Rhode Island College. In her free time, she enjoys reading, outdoor adventuring, making music, and spending time around the city of Providence.
Monica is currently working as the Partnerships for Success VISTA in the Rhode Island Campus Compact office. Monica graduated from Brown University in May 2016 with a degree in Archaeology and the Ancient World. While at Brown, she played rugby and participated in Athletes in Action (a Christian athlete group). Her interests include history, religious studies, and higher education.
