Blackstone Academy Charter School Presents
Building College Culture & Access
A 2-day Summer Institute at BACS
July 10 & 11, 2017
No matter the size of your school/district, or the status of your current college access program, this institute will meet you where you are and help you plan to best meet the needs of your students and their families.
Building an aspirational mindset in students is fundamental to education in the 21st century. At this summer institute, you’ll benefit from the experience of the staff, students, and alumni of Blackstone Academy Charter School (BACS), where the entire community works together to optimize the opportunities available to our student. The results speak for themselves. BACS is a public charter high school that annually sends 75-80% of our low-income, “first gen” students to college.
You’ll walk away from this summer institute with the strategies, technical skills, resource banks, curriculum ideas and, most importantly, your own action plan that will help you broaden the opportunities for your students. The cost is only $200 per person (there are discounts for district/school groups of 3 or more). Please call Kyleen Carpenter at 401-726-1750 x101 with any questions you may have or with help registering.
Who can attend?
Anyone involved with helping students reach their dreams… counselors, teachers, advisors, administrators, and coaches will find this institute useful.
What will the days be like?
Each day will start at 9:00 with breakfast. Panels will bookend lunch and your days end at 4:00.
What should I bring?
Try to capture an honest snapshot of where your school is with a college-aspiring culture, as well as your own contributions to that culture.
Will this help us meet the new RI Secondary Regs?
