The Rhode Island Datahub released a data story with an introduction to new College Access and Persistence Programs. These programs hope to change the educational trajectory of students who have the characteristics historically associated with low rates of college enrollment.
Rhode Island’s public colleges, Community College of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College, and the University of Rhode Island, have implemented three new programs geared towards groups of students with traditionally low college enrollment rates in the hopes of providing more data about these students and increasing their college access and success. These types of students (chronically absent, minority, free/reduced priced lunch) have shown to apply and stay in college at lower percentages than other students, and the RI DataHub website provides extensive data on how research and support programs may one day lead to higher degree completion rates.
