Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts Campus Compacts are excited to host a Campus Action Planning Institute on Thursday, October 6 from 9am-3pm at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
This is an event for campuses who have signed the Campus Compact Civic Action Statement. The goal is to walk through the five components of the Campus Civic Action Plan, help identify current strengths, opportunities for growth, and help move campus teams towards the creation of action plans. The event will include a review of the Civic Action Statement, an analysis of strengths and opportunities for each campus, and time for identifying and developing next steps.
- overview of principles and goals of the 30th Anniversary Action Statement
- introduction to campus civic action planning processes
- exploration of key planning concepts:
- asset orientation
- meaning of community engagement
- capacity building
- systems and policy change
- culture change
- integration of teaching, research and institutional action
- maximizing student and community impact
Campus Compact member institutions whose president or chancellor has signed the Campus Compact 30th Anniversary Action Statement are eligible to attend (it’s never too late to sign!). Each campus should recruit teams of up to five to attend the Institute. These teams should include one or two individuals who have administrative oversight or a leadership role in campus strategic planning, such Chief Academic Officers, Deans, and/or Vice Presidents.
The event is free for Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts Campus Compact members. Members from other Compacts are invited to attend at a $25 per person fee.
